My very popular group Chester guided walking tours normally last for 90 minutes, although this can be varied to suit your needs. I’m Chester-born, have lived near to the city all my life, and so can add that extra-special depth and personal insight to my tours – including details that don’t appear in any publications. Start and finish points can be anywhere within the City centre by prior arrangement. I’ll do my best to vary the content to meet your interests and needs – I pride myself on never doing exactly the same tour twice! Here are some examples of the tours available:
The ‘just everything’ tour – my very popular guided walking tour revealing the highlights (and, maybe, a few surprises) of 2000 years of Chester’s fascinating history which have helped to shape the city of today. It’s an interactive experience, so please don’t be afraid to ask questions!
Row upon row – this walking tour reveals the secrets of the intriguing, world-renowned and unique two-tiered system of shops in Chester – The Rows.
Roundheads or Cavaliers? – Find out about the vital role that Chester played in the turbulent Civil War period of English history, which side it supported, and the consequences of that support. Are you a Roundhead, or a Cavalier?
Victorian Architecture tour – Discover sumptuous examples of the work of the region’s leading Victorian architects.
Chester’s industrious canal – a stroll alongside the canal in Chester, taking in all the main features. The story of the canal is really fascinating, and is a great insight into the turbulent origins of canals in the UK.
